Product
What it is /How it is used
It carries your reputation, your values, your sustainability commitments and, in many cases, your legal and commercial risk.
That is why responsibility is built into the way we work at Rocket Products. Product safety, supplier governance, sustainability evidence and compliance are not afterthoughts. They are considered from the start, so the products we create are not only creative and commercially effective, but suitable for your brand to stand behind.
We use the word responsibility deliberately. Merchandise has an impact. Our job is to reduce that impact wherever we can, avoid vague claims, and give clients the information they need to make better decisions.
Helpful documents:
A responsible process starts much earlier.
It means understanding what the product is, how it will be used, what it is made from, where it will be supplied, which standards apply, and what evidence is needed to support each decision.
Our approach considers product classification, materials, supplier documentation, testing requirements, market-specific regulations, sustainability claims and final product sign-off.
That helps make sure the right questions are asked before production begins, not after a problem appears.
Before recommending or producing a product, we look at the product type, intended use, destination market, materials, supplier route, sustainability claims and the evidence required to support them.
Depending on the product, market and brief,
this may include:
We also help clients make better product choices by giving clearer guidance around materials, packaging, longevity, disposal, recycling, biodegradability and compostability. Where suitable, we can suggest more responsible alternatives, including options made from recycled, biodegradable, compostable, FSC-certified or lower-impact materials.
It is a practical way of working, not a box-ticking exercise.
They can sit in coatings, finishes, treatments, packaging, small components or third-party materials. A product may look straightforward, but the details behind it can affect safety, sustainability claims, testing requirements, approval, market access and long-term suitability.
For example, during one product review, an item with a water-resistant coating raised questions about its material treatment and suitability for the intended market. By asking for the bill of materials and reviewing the finish before production, we identified a material issue that could affect both immediate compliance and the product’s future viability as regulations continue to tighten.
That kind of detail matters. It can be the difference between a product that works now but creates problems later, and one that is properly thought through from the start.
A supplier being listed on a sourcing platform does not automatically mean every product is right for every brand, market or use case.
We look beyond basic availability and price. We work to understand the suppliers, factories and production routes behind the products we recommend, including documentation, traceability, quality processes, operational controls and sustainability evidence.
Responsibility is also about people. We expect suppliers to provide safe working conditions, treat workers with dignity and respect, follow local labour laws and operate ethically.
Our Supplier Code of Conduct sets out the ethical and environmental standards we expect from suppliers, and has been updated in line with SA8000 principles. Our overseas factories are SMETA or BSCI audited, giving clients added reassurance around labour standards, working conditions and responsible sourcing practices.
Where relevant, we use supplier questionnaires, social responsibility declarations, modern slavery declarations and product safety documentation to help assess risk and support responsible sourcing decisions.
The aim is simple: better visibility, better control and fewer hidden risks.
Our responsible sourcing approach is supported by recognised certifications, standards and third-party platforms that help provide greater confidence around quality, ethical sourcing and environmental impact.
Our measured business emissions are calculated and 110% offset through verified nature-based projects.
We offset 110% of measured freight emissions through selected courier partners, while continuing to look for practical ways to reduce emissions at source.
Sedex supports responsible sourcing by helping provide greater visibility around labour standards, working conditions and ethical supply chain practices.
ISO 9001 supports our quality management approach, helping ensure consistent processes, evidence-based decision-making and continual improvement.
Brands are rightly under pressure to make better choices. But sustainability claims need to be handled carefully.
Words like “eco-friendly”, “recycled”, “organic” or “sustainable” only have value when they are supported by evidence. Certifications such as FSC, BCI and other responsible sourcing standards also need proper documentation and correct usage.
We help clients approach these claims with care, so product choices and marketing language are supported by appropriate evidence.
That matters because unsupported claims do not just weaken a product. They can create greenwashing risk, procurement issues and reputational damage.
For marketing teams, it means products people will actually use and want to keep.
For procurement teams, it means clearer supplier information and sourcing standards.
For legal and compliance teams, it means better evidence, documentation and accountability.
For ESG teams, it means more careful sustainability claims and greater traceability.
For brand teams, it means merchandise that reflects the organisation properly.
Our responsible sourcing approach is supported by recognised certifications, standards and third-party platforms that help provide greater confidence around quality, ethical sourcing and environmental impact.
